Kingston Death Cafe
Mortali-tea with a group of strangers.
At a death cafe, people come together to discuss death and dying. We don’t give advice or try to reach a conclusion - we just listen and discuss this often-taboo topic with respect for each other’s views. Death Cafe is an international movement with the aim of demystifying death and dying, so it becomes less scary. If we can become a little easier with our own mortality, perhaps we can make more of life, focus on what’s really important, support those who are grieving or at end of life – and be better equipped to face up to other challenging issues, including the climate and nature crises. This death cafe is held at Kingston Hive, a community climate hub next to the station. It’s free to attend but please bring a contribution for our venue if you can.
Eco-Grief Ritual Circle
With wildfires raging in Europe and dire warnings from scientists about how intense heat - in the seas as well as on the land - will affect our food systems, it’s not surprising many of us are are feeling scared and sad at the state of the planet. When others in your life are not in the same place, you might feel very isolated. Join our listening circle to share difficult feelings - they're all welcome here and everyone has an equal chance to share. Knowing others feel the same can be very helpful and - because nature always brings comfort - we'll work with a couple of very simple nature-based rituals to support us.
This session will be facilitated by Charlotte Haigh, a co-founder of the Hive, end-of-life coach and funeral guide, who has held numerous eco-grief circles and death cafes.

Eco-Grief Circle
The climate and ecological crisis can feel overwhelming. This is a safe space to share difficult feelings with like-minded people. It can be very healing to realise you're not alone, and to be able to express fear, sadness and other emotions with people who understand.
